Good Reads

Reading is one of my favorite hobbies! I love reading because it allows you to go to a different time and place without actually traveling! You can do it anytime, and it is an inexpensive form of entertainment. I have not been reading for pleasure as much as I would like due to graduate school, but I try to fit it in here and there. I’m going to share a few books that I enjoyed reading, hopefully you will enjoy them too! Please feel free to leave comments on your thoughts on these books if or when you read them!

Perfect Peace is an awesome novel! The novel begins with a mother who is pregnant with her 7th child. She had six sons and longed to have a daughter.  I read this novel when I was pregnant with my third son; so how this mother chose to deal with having all sons was intriguing and slightly disturbing.  I don’t want to give too much away, but I truly enjoyed this novel.

Perfect Peace: A Novel by Daniel Black

The View from Rampart Street is a novel that transports you to another time and culture! The setting is 1840s New Orleans, and I felt as though I had been transported back in time! Prior to reading this book I had no knowledge of the placage system, but this novel takes the reader into the complicated customs and traditions of that era. Living in the New Orleans area made this read that much sweeter for me. Definitely one to read!

The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah is not for the faint of heart.  I can still recall the 1st time reading this story, I’m not sure how I came across it, but I’m glad I did! The characters are raw and captivating, you won’t want to put this one down!
