Beauty on a Budget: French Manicure for less than $10

I love a good visit to the nail salon just as much as the next person! However, sometimes there just is not enough time to get to the nail salon, or it’s not in the budget. So I’m going to share how I achieve the perfect French manicure look for less than $10 from the comfort of my own home!

I found out about press-on nails in a budget savvy Facebook Group. At 1st I thought there is no way this will look anywhere near decent, but I was wrong! When done correctly these nails look quite nice. If I can do it, so can you!

Step 1:

Purchase a press-on nail kit. My favorite is Kiss Nails! There are several brands out there, but I always get great and lasting results with the Kiss brand.

Step 2:

Prepare your natural nails: Remove nail polish, trim your nails, soak your cuticles or apply a cuticle remover to gently push your cuticles back. Buff your nails, thoroughly wash and dry your nails. A cuticle pusher & nail buffer/file is included in the kit.

Step 3:

Match the nails in the kit to your natural nail. Most kits have 28 nails to ensure that you get a good fit. Lay the nails out in the order you will apply them. The above kit has numerical tabs on each nail that help with matching the press-on nail to your natural nail.

Step 4:

Apply the press-on nails starting with your pinky finger, do your thumbs last. Place a drop of glue (included in kit) to the press-on nail and your natural nail. The glue dries quickly so make sure your nail is positioned just like you want it. Then press and hold the nail for 15-20 seconds to set the bond.

Step 5:

Remove the number tabs and enjoy!

Removal:

Nails typically last 7 days. When you are ready to remove, soak your nails in acetone or nail polish remover with acetone.Nails come off easily after a few minutes of soaking.

Lagniappe:

Multiple nail designs and lengths are available, I usually stick with the petite or short since those are the most comfortable for me. Adhesive tabs are also available in some kits if you do not want to use glue.
